About Me

I learned a love of golf from my parents, especially my dad. Although he raised 8 kids he found a little time to play when he was younger, and then extensively when he retired. When I was very young, I had five sisters and it was a great escape to caddy for my dad on a Saturday morning. After my mom got all the kids out of the house, she learned to love the game and they played a lot together until they physically couldn’t.

I started when I was young, about 10, playing Omaha courses like Fontenelle, Miller Park and Maple Village. The summers after 7th and 8th grade I caddied at Omaha Country Club which was a great experience I can write about later.  By the time I was 14 I was all in on golf and played on our high school team all four years.

I have never been able to compete at the highest levels locally, but love to try. I have played in a lot of state tournaments, starting with my first state AM at Woodland Hills in 1998.  I generally have a handicap between 6 and 8, and the lowest I have ever been is around 3.  Now I play 150 to 200 rounds a year, with half of that in Arizona. You can read more about my experience and why I am doing this blog in the Introduction section.
