Welcome to my Nebraska Golf blog where the topic will be local golf and golf courses, mainly in eastern Nebraska. We have a fantastic variety of quality private and public courses in the area. All offer something different ranging from condition, access, costs and style. I will also discuss other golf topics relevant to most avid golfers in the area.
I retired a few years ago and now play over 150 rounds a year, but don’t belong to a club in the area. By the end of the summer of 2023, I had played about 40 different courses, and enjoy them all to some degree. I have been on the board for the Nebraska Senior Golf Association and held a variety of roles, including setting up all our events. This has given me a great opportunity to meet many of the club pros and play most of the courses in the area. I consider almost all golf courses to be a valuable asset, but some are much better than others, and some have a different target customer.
I want to share my experiences and opinions and will create a post after playing different courses. This is only my opinion and I will be hesitant to be too critical of any course or club. It will be important to mention ways that I think a course can improve or have more appeal. Courses discussed will range from Elmwood to Landmand, and maybe a few in Kansas City or Iowa. You can go on line via Google or other sources, but the reviews are usually short, emotional and sometimes dated. I started this because I want to share the experiences and spread the good word about our local courses and could not find anything similar. I will welcome your opinions and discussion, but encourage any posters to keep it positive. Please respect any other poster or my posts as only opinions.
